IO Boards for Killer Queen - What are they and how can I identify mine

What is an IO board? Simply put it's a circuit board that sits between your inputs (buttons, joysticks, etc), your outputs (lights, fans, etc) and the computer. Killer Queen has had a long history and as such we've changed IO Hardware a few times over that time.

There are 3 versions of the IO hardware

  • iPac - This was the original hardware we used and was coupled with a PAC Drive to handle outputs. It is no longer supported in the software. Killer Queens with this type of board typically have no side art and the board itself can be found under each control panel. If you have this type of Killer Queen and you want new versions of the software you will need to upgrade to the BumbleBoard. Contact sales@bumblebeargames.com for an upgrade kit.
  • RIO - this is the proprietary board by Raw Thrills. It is a large red board located by the coin door in the blue cabinet. Killer Queens running on the RIO board have a large bundle of wires connecting the two cabinets together.
  • BumbleBoard - this is our proprietary board and all new Killer Queens use this board. The board can come in three colors. Green, Purple and Black. Like the iPac, each cabinet will have its own board and is independently  connected via a USB cable to the computer.

IMPORTANT - Bumbleboards run on 12V of electricity unless if you have a 1.6 board(Purple), these run on 24V and must use a 24V power supply such as the   LRS-350-24
